Activating Inner and Collective Resonance: Participative Sound Baths as Artistic and Spiritual Practices
Publication information:
Abstract
Workshop: In this presentation and interactive workshop, will explore the intersections of sound, resonance, spirituality and embodiment in a participative sound bath using Deep Listening (Pauline Oliveros) and individual and communal voice activation. We will analyze passive and active listening modalities and compare the ways in which these two modes invite participants to experience sound baths as spiritual practice. Following our introduction to an operating theory of participative sound baths, participants will engage in a 50 minute practice designed to welcome their voices and embody the expansive, collective dimensions of sound. The session will end with a 10 minute shared reflection.
