Abstract

Workshop: This workshop applies training methods of laboratory theatres to create forms, gestures, and questions for practices of worship. Focused on the value(s) of “not knowing”, this process uses a research-creation methodology to experiment with non-linguistic intuitions towards sacred aesthetics. The session will open with movement proposals to generate collective energy and cohesion, then will layer in materials to elevate images, actions, and encounters participants feel drawn to. This session works best without spectators, with the exception of virtual participants, who may engage within their own spaces. Movement clothing is necessary, ideally without text/images/logos. Bare feet are encouraged.
