The Algorithm of Exile: The Three Unconscious Giants That Architect Belonging

Failures of belonging do not originate on a social or emotional level. They begin through psychospiritual fractures, where unseen logics determine which aspects of humanity we allow, shaping personal identity and ethics before replicating as collective ‘exile algorithms.’ Building on Richard Tarnas’ archetypal historiography of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries and drawing from the decolonial mythology of Eris (Liu, 2024), this presentation maps how three transpersonal forces—specialness, idealization, and annihilation—govern belonging or elimination at scale. It demonstrates how marginalized spiritualities map, metabolize, and transfigure pathologies at individual, institutional, and civilizational levels and sharpen existing contemplative traditions, laying the foundation for tools that address the accelerating global metacrisis and transform the invisible patterns shaping 21st-century inclusion.
