Abstract

This paper describes a naturalistic spiritual path, Atheopaganism: a godless and non-supernatural religion which has introduced the ritual arts to thousands of practitioners. Drawing from neuroscience, religious studies and the author’s more than 35 years of experience in modern Neopagan circles, Atheopaganism offers critically thinking people an approach to spirituality which is rooted in teleological reality, creative expression and meaningful purpose in living without supernaturalism or theism. Paper includes the development of this path, examples of artistic creativity it has spurred, and discussion of why non-supernatural naturalistic spirituality is a natural fit for today’s world.
