Belonging Without Faith: A Day-to-Day Experiment in Awakening

Abstract
If you’ve ever loved a spiritual–religious path yet found you couldn’t stay with it, this talk explores what it means to have a home for your awakening work without dogma, worship, or invasive practices. Drawing on a trajectory through Catholicism and nondual philosophies, I trace how metaphysical language, belief gates, and ideology-based practice quietly exclude many of us whose family and work lives can’t bend around retreats or strict observance. I then present an experiment—a secular, day-to-day program of eyes-open field tests—that treats awakening as a perception shift layered onto ordinary life, as if one mind dreams the world.
Presenter Biography
Martin Lenclos is a designer-artist, perception experimenter, and founder of L’Enclos, a New York-based studio-lab at the intersection of design, philosophy, and lived experiment. Through The Dreamer Project, he investigates awakening as a secular, day-to-day experiment using contemplative practices and field tests to examine how perception may reshape identity.
