Co-creating an Ecological Calendar with Nature
Publication information:
Abstract
Artist Talk: In collaboration with The Gaian Way, Jon Schroth recently designed a new, artistic calendar to visually represent time the way a specific bioregion experiences it. The calendar looks at common tree and shrub species in southern New England (the Northeast Coastal Zone), and depicts a year of their collective activity as colorful rings of leaves, flowers and fruit. It’s visually quite different, but as with any calendar, it provides a form upon which we can overlay our lives and spiritual practices. After a 20-25 minute presentation of the calendar, Jon will lead an observational drawing exercise for the remainder of the hour.
