How Do We Make Art in Times of Uncertainty? Artist-led Collectives as Forces of Resistance

Abstract
Amidst ongoing crises and uncertainty, how do we make art? As an artist, I feel compelled to explore the possibility of art to address pressing issues, as a response to our time. This desire has led me to discover artist-led collectives that treat the welfare of people, animals, and land as an end goal. In this presentation, I introduce two currently active artist-led collectives, Indonesian artist collective Taring Padi and NY-based collective Project EATS. Their creative and collaborative work challenges authority and exploitative systems and might shed light on our approach to art, organizing, and life.
