Abstract
Inherited Futures is a solo exhibition by Ifedolapo Arolawun that reimagines African spiritual knowledge through art and technology. Integrating AI, AR, VR, sonic design, and oracle divination, the work treats masquerading and ritual as living systems for remembrance, reconnection, and active engagement. Rooted in ancestral practices and esoteric research, it challenges colonial narratives that have dismissed African spirituality, using technology to collapse distance and create participatory, future-facing spiritual frameworks. Inherited Futures invites audiences into an immersive encounter where memory, ritual, and futurity intersect, ensuring ancestral knowledge is not only preserved, but activated and inherited for generations to come.
Presenter Biography
Ifedolapo Arolawun, known professionally as IFEOFDESIGN, is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist and cultural innovator whose work exists at the intersection of Yoruba spirituality, design, and emerging technologies. With deep reverence for ancestral traditions and a keen fluency in digital tools, Ife channels ancient wisdom through contemporary mediums to imagine new pathways for healing, connection, and remembrance.
