Integrating Jungian Archetypes, Sacred Symbolism, and Artistic Expression: A Survivor-Centered Framework for Addressing Clergy Sexual Abuse and Spiritual Reclamation

This talk explores the intersection of Carl Jung's personal experience with childhood clergy sexual abuse and his theoretical contributions to analytical psychology, art and active imagination. It highlights how Jung's trauma, stemming from abuse by a religious authority figure, influenced his concepts of the collective unconscious, archetypes, and individuation. The overall argument posits that integrating Jungian methodologies with contemporary trauma research and creative arts therapies can provide effective support for survivors of childhood clergy sexual abuse through a survivor-centered lens.
