Abstract
Exploring potentials for reconciliation between the arts, religion, and the sciences, this presentation highlights Jordan Walker’s work with what he calls “sacred aesthetic technology.” Interweaving more than 20 years of engagement with the esoteric spirituality and phenomenological philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Jordan explores contemporary spaces for collaborative inquiry, deeper meaning-making, and spiritual transformation. Developing the solo and group practices of “Social Poetry” and “Life Altaring,” Jordan is committed to serving “Collaboratories” wherever they arise. What are the ramifications for adult education when aesthetic experience, inner development, and action research are integrated into a more immersive learning experience in service to cultural renewal?
Presenter Biography
Jordan Walker, M.S.Ed., is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and event producer. He had hosted spaces for participatory research from Burning Man to Biodynamic farms. His explorations in diverse forms of social practice have ranged from teaching children with Autism and managing work programs for adults with developmental differences, to designing leadership training and serving as a death doula. Jordan lives and homeschools in New York’s Hudson Valley.
