Marital garland of words for the Divine; a representation through Indian classical dance (Bharata-natyam)

Abstract
Divinity remains the core essence of music and classical dance in Indian culture. Saints and sages across the millennia who graced this civilization had articulated their experience in prose and poetry that is recited and reflected upon to this day across the sub-continent and also among the extended diaspora. Sage Ramana Maharishi, among the most revered has poured out his devotional feelings in the work that translates as 'marital garland of words' in praise of the Divine. Ms. Sanjana, a post-graduate faculty of Indian classical dance form, Bharata-natyam shall attempt to embody this composition’s poetical flights towards the Divine, dripping with devotional fervor and hopes to elicit the same in the minds of the discerning audience.
Presenter Biography
Sanjana Sivakumar is a post-graduate in the Indian classical dance form of Bharata-natyam from St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam in Kerala state of India and is currently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Natya, Dr MGR Janaki College of Arts and Sciences for Women at Chennai, South India, affiliated to University of Madras. She received outstanding student award during her under graduation and has performed across India over the past decade.
