How should I treat others?
“There is no other”
These words of spiritual master Sri Ramana Maharishi echo in the winds of my mind nudging me to explore where my boundaries of the self end and othering begins. In what essence can I live and see everyone around me, not as another, but an extension of my own self?
The need to belong is an existential urge. Can we look into ourselves and instead of asking I want to belong/Do I belong here? Can we say I belong to you?
Who can we say that to with full surrender?
Wanting to Belong puts the onus on the other.
What can I do to create a sense of unbelonging?
I would like to present an art installation with voice narrative using mirrors amidst paintings of diverse and plural "others". The viewer becomes a part of the imagery. The mirrors present an opening, a space for the viewer to belong and see themselves reflected in others.
Presenter Biography
A published author and practicing artist, Subina Aurora Khaneja experienced a transformation through the power of spiritual connection. In her heuristic healing journey, she discovered her authentic self and her real Self. Her exhibits in Singapore and India, expound and explore the inter-connectedness of art and spirituality.
