Abstract
Artist Talk: Birth, like death, is a universally shared human experience. And yet our lives and existences are ever-changing and not static after birth. Most of us go through multiple rebirths during our lives and are reborn in many ways, sometimes on a regular basis and other times during important, pivotal periods of growth and transformation. The Rebirth Tunnel Immersive Art Installation is a contemporary multi-media artwork I have created through which participants experience rebirth as a sacred rite of passage. This presentation includes images and video that will help viewers at the conference to understand key elements of the installation.
Presenter Biography
Anna Hennessey, PhD, is a San Francisco based scholar and artist. She has published widely for academic and broader audiences on the topics of birth and rebirth in the arts and humanities. Hennessey’s Rebirth Tunnel Immersive Art Installation is a multimedia piece devoted to rebirth as a rite of passage.
