Abstract

Workshop: Take a visual and crafting journey in healthcare by following The Serpent’s Journey: Healing Through Six Steps of Mythological Iconography. Images of snakes in Egyptian and Greek mythology, that also exist in healthcare, unfold telling a sequential story of healing, transformation, and resilience. Having existed in healthcare for thousands of years, their visual culture universally helps with identifying and relating to healing steering away from the profound psychological disturbance of white male colonial pastor care. The snake with all its symbolism and form reflects the diverse contexts of ministering and providing spiritual care for people of all faiths and those of none.
