Spirit & Nature: Paintings
Publication information:
Abstract
Artist Talk: The intuitive wisdom of the mystical traditions is visually integrated in these paintings to form landscapes of the Spirit in nature. These inner and outer worlds are taken from microscopic and telescopic imagery, states of consciousness, and ordinary observations of daily life and nature. Maria Jaoudi's paintings draw on the philosophic and spiritual traditions of the world in combination with descriptions from biology, astronomy, and other illustrations of nature. The texture of earth and skin, a crow in the rain, and a nebula born reflect insights from the Zhuangzi, Kabbalah, Upanişads, Rabi’a al-Adawiyya and Hildegard of Bingen. Video with music.
