Abstract
This essay explores Tupac Shakur’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory through the lens of the Black Social Gospel Movement and Kelly Brown Douglas’s concept of the Black Christ. It examines Tupac’s use of spiritual symbolism, themes of suffering, redemption, and social justice to position him as a prophetic figure and cultural critic. By blending theological reflection with hip-hop analysis, the essay highlights Tupac’s role in challenging systemic oppression and fostering empowerment. It argues that his work serves as both spiritual lament and call to action, resonating with Black liberation theology’s legacy of resistance and hope.
