Abstract

Artist Talk: The act of witness is a spiritual practice. Making art in response to a traumatic event, public or private, community or global, involves elements that we traditionally associate with prayer. Exploring this topic through two projects, one local-personal, one global, artist Lisa Gordillo reflects on the spiritual and artistic work of unearthing hidden narratives, supporting individual and collective grief, and holding space for complicated stories.
