Amsterdam-based artist Lucy Cordes Engelman presents an immersive 60-minute screening of her short films and installations, blending animism, ancestral knowledge, and the interplay of science and the sacred. Inspired by her time in Northern Norway with a shaman channeling the Northern Lights, Lucy's work unveils the cosmos as a conscious, living entity. Presenter Biography

Lucy Cordes Engelman is an artist-filmmaker based between Amsterdam and LA. She works with the sensorial and ritual potential of cinema as a way of reconnecting to the living earth. Subjugated and alternative knowledges that are deeply embedded in place are central to Lucy’s research-based practice. Recent and current projects relate to cosmic consciousness, ecology, and a time before/after patriarchy. Graduating with honors from the MA Artistic Research KABK in 2019, she has shared work in Europe, the Americas, and Asia; her first narrative short film was funded by the NL Film Funds and will premiere at Evolution Mallorca Film Festival 2024 in Palma.
