A Yogi’s Guide to Manage Our Belonging Instinct
Publication information:
Abstract
Human made socio-cultural structures and situations allow belonging to be nourishing as well as toxic, and an awareness of the wider world mitigates the toxic nature. A deeper (yogic) understanding of the inner forces that drive us will enable each one of us to avoid falling prey to the toxic aspects. Finally, we need to recognize that a sense of faith is essential for holding this picture together, especially during the hardest times. To whimsically illustrate how this faith can take many forms, we present a mathematical proof, establishing that it cannot be “God’s intent” to keep us perpetually divided.
